00:06 FLYING PRAM A KLM-Constellation arrives on an airport near Batavia (captain A. Viruly). The airplane brings women, babies and small children from Dutch men who are staying in Indonesia. The passengers leave the airplane. A stewardess helps carry a.o. reed travel cradles. The waiting men greet their relatives and leave the airport with them. 00:41 Viruly shakes a boy's hand. 00:46 SIGNING OF THE CEASEFIRE On 17 january 1948 a ceasefire is signed by Indonesia and the Netherlands aboard the American ship "Renville", which is anchored at the roadsted of Batavia. With this the armed conflict in Indonesia, started with the politionele acties (police actions), has come to an end. SHOTS: - The Indonesian delegation leader A. Sjarifoeddin (with glasses) and his company arrive by airplane at the airport Kemajoran; - motorboats take the Indonesian and the Dutch delegations to the "Renville"; - aboard a large square table has been set up where the delegations are seated; the secretary of the Commission of Three, dr. Kirby, opens the meeting; the Dutch and the Indonesian delegation leaders, Raden Abdoel Kadir and Amir Sjarifoeddin, sign the treaty. 01:10 Kadir embarks; 01:18 Sjarifoeddin ditto.
