Strike actions to get automatic indexation for employees. The unions follow a so-called spearhead plan, following a predetermined plan employees at certain companies in the harbour of Rotterdam and Amsterdam down tools. The strike plans of the unions are contested at the court of Utrecht, who orders a cooling-off period in which both parties aren't allowed to take any action, but have to try to make an agreement. At the end of the first week of actions a partial agreement has been made after new negotiations.
